The Brief

One digital home.
Two language paths.

Teatro Hispano de Michigan needed a digital home for a young nonprofit with a real community job: make bilingual theater visible, understandable, and easy to support. An off-the-shelf template couldn’t carry that — so the site is a custom WordPress theme, built from the ground up, with English and Spanish treated as equals rather than an afterthought.

The Approach

01

Bilingual Information Architecture

A language-neutral content model: every show, event, and page is authored once and served in English or Spanish — with hreflang, a saved language preference, and a switcher that keeps you on the same page instead of dropping you back home.

02

Custom Theme & UI System

A bespoke WordPress block theme — not a page builder. A reusable system of type, color, event cards, and section patterns, all accessible and mobile-first, that the team can extend without writing code.

03

Dynamic Content & Conversion

Custom post types drive the season, news, and auditions, so staff publish in minutes. Every page points to a concrete next step — attend, donate, sponsor, volunteer, audition, or subscribe.

Responsive Interface System

A website that makes the next action obvious.

The interface centers language choice without making it a dead end. Visitors enter in English or Spanish, switch anytime, and land on the same content and the same ways to get involved. Layouts are responsive and tuned to keep the next action one tap away.

The Outcome

A web system that turns a new cultural organization into something easy to understand, attend, and support.

The finished site is a flexible, fully custom system — events, press, donations, auditions, newsletters, and bilingual storytelling — that staff run themselves and grow into. A brand-new organization now reads as established, trustworthy, and easy to join.

UX principle

"Choose a language. Find a show. Join the work."

Website Case Study

The website is the work.

A closer look at the build: a custom WordPress theme, a bilingual content model, dynamic event and news flows, and an interface engineered to turn first-time visitors into audience members, volunteers, and donors.
